Most people that I know love to hear live music.  No matter when or where or what, generally people will stop and listen to live music, at least for a bit no matter what the style of music is.  And when it's something that if FREE, that adds an extra benefit.

MINNESOTA HAS A PRETTY DECENT AMOUNT OF CLUBS THAT PLAY JAZZ

I usually think of jazz music basically as a New Orleans thing.  But here in Midwest, we do have a pretty decent amount of jazz music and clubs.  You just have to know where to look.  Obviously not as prevelant as it is in the South, but there is still jazz music to be appreciated in this area too.
You can see the Yelp reviews on the top jazz clubs in Minnesota and in the twin cities area.  If you are looking for a great place to hear some music of that type, check out these places.
Dakota
Ice House
JazzMN
The White Squirrel Bar
The Hook and Ladder Theatre & Lounge
