Willmar, MN (KROC-AM News) - Two Willmar Police Officers were transported to a hospital early today following an incident at the Kandiyohi County Law Enforcement Center.

The Sheriff's Office says the officers were testing an unknown powder that was suspected of being an illegal drug when the substance ignited. A news release says both officers were transported to Carris Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar where they were treated for their injuries and released.

The incident is under investigation. Officials have not indicated what substance was being tested or how it caught fire.

The Kandiyohi Sheriff's Office says this "is a stark reminder of the many dangers are officers face every day."
