Longtime Rochesterfest Leader Carole Brown Dies at 81
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A longtime Rochester community leader and volunteer has passed away.
An obituary published by Macken Funeral Home says Carole Brown died unexpectedly on August 27 due to an infection. She was 81 years old.
Brown is best remembered for her decades of service as the executive director of the Rochesterfest celebration, a role she held for more than 20 years. Her obituary notes she took on the position after helping organize the 1990 Star of the North Games in Rochester.
Among her many accomplishments, Brown also launched the Midwestern Lumberjack Championships in Rochester. The obituary says the competition attracted some of the world’s best lumberjacks to the city.
She is survived by her husband, retired Rochester Post-Bulletin sportswriter Bob Brown. The couple made their home in Rochester in 1967 and were married for more than 60 years.

A funeral service for Carole Brown is planned for Thursday morning at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in southeast Rochester. The service is scheduled to begin at 11 AM, with a visitation one hour prior.
