Former Southern Minnesota Police Investigator Admits to Sex Abuse
New Ulm, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former police investigator for a southern Minnesota city has admitted to sexual abuse charges.
43-year-old Eric Gramentz entered guilty pleas to one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct during a hearing in Brown County Court on Monday. He had filed a petition to plead guilty with the court in November.
The criminal complaint against the former Police Officer alleged the sexual abuse occurred in 2017 when the victim was 11 or 12 years old. The charges were filed last April after the victim told another person about the abuse and that person confronted Gramentz.
The court document stated the New Ulm man admitted to an investigator that he had sexual contact with a child on multiple occasions. In at least one instance, the child was sleeping when the sexual abuse took place.
Gramentz had worked for the New Ulm Police Department since February 2005. following his arrest last year he was placed on administrative leave, but his employment has since been terminated.
His sentencing hearing has not been scheduled.
