Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News)- Part of Interstate 90 in the Rochester area will close in both directions on Thursday.

A news release issued by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) says the closure and detour is expected to be in place for 12 hours.

It’s connected to a bridge replacement project that began earlier this year. The closure and detour will occur just west of Stewartville and will route traffic around the Olmsted County Rd. 35 overpass.

12 Hour Detour on I-90 Near Stewartville, MN Starts Thursday Morning

The interstate closure begins at 4:00 Thursday morning and is scheduled to end at 4:00 Thursday afternoon. The interstate will be closed between exits 205 and 209, which is just west of Stewartville

MnDOT says I-90 traffic will be taken on the following routes: 

I-90 eastbound motorists: Take exit 205 to Olmsted County Road 6, travel east to Highway 63 north, travel through Stewartville to I-90.

I-90 westbound motorists: Take exit 209A to Highway 63, travel south to Olmsted County Road 6, and travel west to I-90.

The closure is to allow crews to pour concrete for the new County Rd. 35 overpass bridge deck. 

County Rd. 35 has been closed since the project began on July 8. The work is scheduled to be completed by late October.
