Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Fire Department responded late Saturday night to a dumpster fire adjacent to a single-family home.

A news release says the fire was reported by a passerby around 10:30 PM at a home in the 1700 block of 1st Street Southwest, about a block west of Highway 52. The first firefighters to arrive found flames coming from a large rolloff dumpster in the driveway and some of the siding on the house was melting.

Additional fire crews were dispatched to the property and the firefighters quickly worked to cool off the house before extinguishing the fire in the dumpster. The damage to the home was limited to the melted pieces of siding, but the overall loss was estimated at around $15,000.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
