Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- One woman was killed and a man was arrested following a fatal head-on crash in Minneapolis

Police responded to the deadly collision at around 10:40 Saturday night. A Dodge Journey and Dodge Durango were involved in the fatal crash. 

The preliminary investigation indicates the Journey crossed over the centerline of Lowry Ave. North and collided with the Durango near the street’s intersection with James Ave. North.

A news release issued by the Minneapolis Police Department says it appears an unknown passenger in the Durango assaulted the driver of the Journey after the crash.

Suspected Drunk Driver Arrested After Fatal Head-on Crash in Minneapolis

The woman driving the Durango and a 14-year-old girl riding with him were taken to a hospital. Police say the 31-year-old woman died at the hospital despite life-saving measures. 

The condition of the 14-year-old girl is not disclosed in the news release. A third unidentified passenger declined to speak with officers, police say.

A 34-year-old man was driving the Journey. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of apparent non-life-threatening injuries, then booked into the Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide and DWI. 

The names of the individuals involved in the fatality have not been released. The fatal crash is under investigation.
