Police Captain Casey Moilanen said Monday a pick-up driven by a 37-year-old Rochester man was stopped in the westbound lane of 14th St. Northeast waiting to make a right turn onto northbound Broadway Ave. The driver told officers he looked both ways then proceeded to begin the right hand turn when he struck a pedestrian, described as an 81-year-old man, in the crosswalk.

The pedestrian suffered what were described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries to his face. The driver and a passenger in the pick-up told officers they were going about 5 mph when the truck struck the walker shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Moilanen.

Moilanen says the incident is still under investigation and that investigators are still waiting to speak with the crash victim. Possible charges are pending the results of the investigation, Moilanen said.

Wow! Check out how Rochester has changed throughout the years in these Google photos.

As we are soaring down Hwy 52, it is hard to imagine what life was like in our town before the Target store was built where it is today. Or the house that you live in now, at one point in town, that wasn't there. In fact, Rochester has grown so fast throughout the years, most of our houses weren't even around 50 years ago! Don't believe me? Look through these photos to get a glimpse of what Rochester was like years ago.
