Hinckley, MN (KROC-AM News)- One person was killed and four others were hurt in a crash between two pick-ups at a rural Minnesota intersection.

One of the injured occupants is fighting for his life. One of the pick-ups had three passengers. 

The State Patrol responded to the deadly crash shortly after 6:00 Wednesday evening.

Driver Killed After Pick-up Runs Stop Sign at Intersection Near Grand Casino Hinckley

The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 48 and Wildlife RD., which is about four miles east of Grand Casino in Hinckley. 

A 1999 pick-up traveling south on Wildlife Rd. disobeyed a stop sign and entered the intersection with the two-lane highway. A 2021 pick-up heading east struck the southbound pick-up in the intersection, the state crash report says.

The collision sent both vehicles into the ditch at the southeastern corner of the intersection. 

63-year-old Kameron Lee Ellis of Hinckley was identified the driver of the eastbound pick-up. The State Patrol says he was pronounced dead at the scene.

40-year-old Cory Shawn Olson of Cambridge was identified as the driver who failed to stop. Olson and two of his passengers, identified as Breanna Ann Olson of Cambridge and Johnny Joseph Olson of Cambridge, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. 

A third passenger, who is not identified in the crash report, suffered life-threatening injuries. All of the occupants in the pick-up were taken to a Minneapolis hospital for further care, the State Patrol says. 

It’s not known if everyone was buckled or if alcohol was involved in the deadly crash, the state crash report indicates.
