A small town in Southeast Minnesota seems to be showing up in the news quite a bit lately.  First, we heard that one of its residents is appearing on the National singing competition "The Voice".  The latest news isn't as joyful.  Unfortunately, it appears that a restaurant has closed suddenly.

Abrupt Closure For Restaurant in Southeast Minnesota

Years ago, I lived in the small town of Kasson, Minnesota.  I was even part of the Kasson Chamber of Commerce and had the opportunity to meet a lot of great people while I lived in that community.  I also was a very frequent visitor to a restaurant called Daniel's.

For over 40 years, Daniel's served the Kasson community and it was so sad to see it close for good in 2020.  Unfortunately, this spot has had quite the turnover since.

The Smokin' Silverback Now Closed in Kasson, Minnesota

It's never a good sign when a handwritten note is placed on the front doors of a business.  Just a few weeks ago, I drove by the old At Home location in Rochester and saw the handwritten words indicating that the store was officially closed.

Today, another handwritten note is on the front door of The Smokin' Silverback at 504 S. Mantorville Ave. S in Kasson, Minnesota.

We are permanetly closed at this location. Thank you for the memories! - The Smokin Silverback

While the sign and Google do indicate that the Smokin' Silverback is closed, thanks to some additional information our team collected, it appears that this wasn't just a closing - this restaurant was told to leave.
