A furniture and home goods chain that used to be quite popular has closed many locations over the years. Currently, only two remain in Minnesota but pretty soon it'll be down to one.

One of the chain's locations, and the final one in southeast Minnesota, has announced they're closing.

I specifically remember going to this chain when I would visit family in Iowa growing up. I can't remember why, but my family loved this store. Whenever we visited we HAD to go because there weren't any near where I lived in Minnesota at the time.

Honestly, being dragged there is probably why I love shopping for furniture and home decor now!

Big Lots is Closing in Albert Lea, MN

The chain is Big Lots, and sadly they have announced they'll be closing their location in Albert Lea. That location didn't open very long ago. The Albert Lea Tribune reports that they opened in February of 2023, but now there are 'Store Closing' signs up.

When I went to the Big Lots website and clicked on the Albert Lea location they have a big banner that says 'Closing This Location'.

The Last Big Lots in Minnesota

According to their website, it appears there are no plans to close the Blaine location, but pretty soon that will be the only Big Lots in all of Minnesota.

I haven't shopped at a Big Lots in a long time but because I have memories of shopping there it's sad that they're kind of going extinct in Minnesota!

In other states, though, they seem to be doing quite well. In California, Florida, Ohio, and Texas there are over 100 locations. And in Georgia, New York, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania there are over 50.
