Iowa Man Collects $2 Million Prize, Another Jackpot Hasn’t Been Claimed

Earlier this week, we reported on a man from Mason City, Iowa, who won a $250,000 lottery prize. While his plans for the money remain unknown, I've already thought about how I'd use the money if I were to win. I would clear my mortgage, upgrade my car, treat my family to a well-deserved vacation, and put the rest of the money into my kids' college fund.

One major Powerball jackpot prize was successfully collected recently, while another remains unclaimed, and lottery officials are reminding people to check their tickets.

Danny Buckelew from Treynor visited Iowa's lottery headquarters to collect his $2 million prize after matching all five white balls in the October 7, 2023, drawing. His ticket was just one number shy of the $1.4 billion jackpot that night's drawing.

There's a $2 million Powerball ticket still floating around out there. We don't know who has it but it was bought at Clinton Liquor in Clinton for the November 25, 2023 drawing.

I can only imagine the frantic search underway in that area, with people rummaging through their car's glove compartments, kitchen junk drawers, and anywhere else a ticket might be hiding.

Maybe the lucky winner is already plotting what to do with the money before stepping forward. A lottery prize that big has to be claimed at the Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive. Whoever holds this ticket has until May 23, 2024, to come forward and claim their winnings.
