I'll say it, the Rochester, Minnesota Honkers had a bad season this past summer. It just wasn't their summer. But, of course, I still had tons of fun hitting up Mayo Field a couple of times this past summer to watch some baseball.

The Honkers have just announced a big move, though, and it involves their management team.

Welcome, former MLB pitcher Jason Jacome!

Jason will be joining the Rochester Honkers as their new field manager.

Jason was a pitcher in the big leagues for the New York Mets, Kansas City Royals, and Cleveland Indians between 1994 and 1998.

After his time playing professional ball, he went back to his alma mater, Pima College in Arizona, to coach their team. He also has experience coaching other summer collegiate baseball teams, so he's no stranger.

Jason says in a press release from the Honkers that he's excited to join the team.

"I am honored to join the Rochester Honkers organization and look forward to assembling a championship-quality team. Our goal is to compete at the highest level while representing the city of Rochester with pride and professionalism."

Rochester Honkers 2026 Baseball Season

I'm excited to see what he can do with our team! The summer 2026 season will be the 33rd season for the Rochester Honkers.

The first game of the summer will be on Memorial Day. The rest of the official schedule won't be released by the Northwoods League until late fall or early winter.
