Winter has arrived!

Time to grab the boots and warm gear and head out to one of two fabulous ice fortresses!

The winter attractions have been delayed in opening due to the warm temps we experienced up until last weekend. So, I guess one, technically two, good things have come from this freeze-your-face-off weather we've been dealing with all week.

“Minnesotans know how to make the most of the cold winter months and we are grateful to be part of Minnesota’s rich winter tradition of spending time outside with friends and family when the temperature dips below freezing," -Anna Smith General Manager of Ice Palace.

According to their website, they are one of the largest ice attractions in Minnesota with over 90,000 square feet of ice, as well as delicious food vendors, sled hills, giftshops, spirits and wine.

What else can you expect? Ice Tunnels, mother Natures Ice art formations, incredible lights, characters, live fire performances, and more according to their Facebook page. 

The Ice Palace opens Monday, January 21st at Delano Central Park. Their hours are open Thursday and Fridays from 5-9p and Saturday and Sundays 2-9p.

Another amazing ice attraction is the ever popular Ice Castles. Their website says since 2011, Ice Castles has been dedicated to creating an experience that will live on long after the ice melts.

They've moved! This year you can find it in Maple Grove.

Ice Castles is an awe-inspiring, must-see winter phenomenon that brings fairy tales to life. The experience is built entirely by hand using hundreds of thousands of icicles hand-placed by professional ice artists. The castles include breathtaking LED-lit sculptures, frozen thrones, ice-carved tunnels, slides, and fountains. - Ice Castles.

Ice Castles will officially open to the public on Wednesday, January 24th.
