Wisconsin Orchard Named One of the Best in America by USA TODAY
Fall in Wisconsin just got a little sweeter. USA TODAY’s 10BEST recently named Peck & Bushel Organic Fruit Company in Colgate, Wisconsin, one of the best apple orchards in the entire country. Out of hundreds of nominations, this family-owned orchard snagged the No. 8 spot on the national list.
Peck & Bushel Makes the Top 10 List
Colgate (just norht of Milwaukee) is located less than two hours from Rockford—about a 1 hour and 45 minute drive—Peck & Bushel is a certified organic orchard that grows more than 35 varieties of apples. Visitors can stroll through rows of over 50,000 dwarf apple and fruit trees, set up on a trellis system similar to a vineyard. Alongside apple picking, guests can enjoy fresh-pressed organic cider and homemade pies that have become local favorites.
A Perfect Fall Road Trip
For Rockford families looking for a fall weekend adventure, Colgate is an easy drive north. The orchard is open from August through October, offering plenty of chances to grab apples, sip cider, and take in Wisconsin’s crisp fall scenery.
