This sounds like something straight out of a movie, but nope, it happened right here in Illinois.

On Wednesday, November 5th, Police in Geneseo were called to a business on South State Street for complaints from the owner hearing noises coming from the ceiling or attic area.  When officers arrived, they searched for nearly 20 minutes, head the noise themselves, but couldn't figure out where it was coming from.  They eventually left without finding anything.

Not even 20 minutes later, the owner calls again complaining about more noises from inside the walls in a different area.  This is when things took a turn.

When police arrived for a second time, they checked other businesses along the same block.  While searching, they heard whispering and movement inside the structure.  At 6:36pm, officers finally made voice contact with a woman who was living inside the walls of the businesses.  The Geneseo Fire Dept. had to come remover her from the walls safely.

Police identified the woman as 26-year-old Caleigh Gottsche from Davenport, Iowa.

She was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal damage to property, and trespassing.  She's now booked in the Henry County Jail.

Other businesses along the same block had roof damage that appeared to be access points for Gottsche to get into the walls, and potentially inside the businesses.

Illinois keeps it interesting, to say the least.  Moral of the story?  If you ever heard whispering inside your walls, it could very well be a person.  That's not to scare you, it's to make you aware that anything can happen, anywhere.
