My daughter is going to her first Lollapalooza, and naturally, she asked me what she and her friends are allowed to bring into the festival. Obviously. I had no clue. My last festival featured lawn chairs and a cooler full of Capri Suns. So I did what any parent does when they don't know something: I panicked and Googled.

Let me save you the panic-googling.

What Is Definitely Not

  • Backpacks with too many pockets (or personality)
  • Aerosol anything (including your dry shampoo, sorry)
  • Blankets, frisbees, coolers, chairs, and hammocks—no lounging allowed
  • Outside food or drinks (unless you’re smuggling it with wizardry)
  • Pets, drones, umbrellas, selfie sticks, and fireworks
  • Large cameras, vape pens, illegal substances, and good luck if you try to bring in a tent

Final Thoughts from a Festival-Confused Parent

If your kid is headed to Lolla, forward them this post before they pack everything they own. And if you plan to go? Hydrate, wear sunscreen, and be ready to spend a very long time on your feet.

See the full list on Lollapalooza's site, and pack wisely.
