How long has this place been flying under the BBQ radar?
I’d like to consider myself someone who is aware of all foods, good and otherwise, but I have to admit this one got past me.
Maybe it’s because it’s located a little further south than I would typically venture, but then again, I’m aware of a nearby restaurant that receives raves from people who travel far and wide just to try it once.

Reid’s Southern Kitchen & Smokehouse in Peru Draws Big Crowds
While Rip’s Tavern gets all the pub in Ladd, just a little east of there in Peru, there’s a restaurant that might be just as deserving.
It's called Reid’s Southern Kitchen & Smokehouse, and it’s drawing people from all over Illinois.
Smoked Meats and Southern Favorites Lead the Menu
Known for their Southern-style smoked meats with standout offerings like Brisket, Ribs, Pulled pork, chicken, and sausage.
The sides are winners too, according to travel blog Ever After in the Woods, which calls out the mac and cheese, baked beans, and cornbread casserole.

Limited Hours Make This Illinois BBQ Spot Hard to Catch
I've never had the BBQ at Reid's, but based on the pics and the recommendations, I am pretty sure I'll need to make a trip to check the place out.
Here’s the catch, though: Reid’s Souther Kitchen & Smokehouse has very limited hours, so be sure they are open before making the hour-and-fifteen-minute trek.
