I respect the hustle but very much love my sleep, too.

To The Train That Goes Through Downtown Rockford At 11pm

I've tried everything from white noise, closing my bedroom door, turning up the TV, and everything to try and block out the train sounds.  Nothing works.  It's too powerful, which is a good thing!

To an extent, there's something comforting about it.  Even though it disrupts my sleep pretty much every night, it's cool knowing we still have old-fashioned ways of getting goods from one city to another.

Honestly, if I had kids of my own this letter would be completely different.  I know parents who live in the area are probably dreading this time of night because their kids will wake up from all the noise and it'll take forever to get to go to sleep again.  That's the price you pay for living close to train tracks!

So thank you, 11PM train. I might be sleep-deprived most nights because of you, but at least I’m entertained.
