What Dying Malls? Illinois Mall Spends Millions On Upgrades
They keep saying shopping malls are dying but one in Illinois just completed millions of dollars worth of upgrades.
This Illinois Mall Is Surviving And Thriving
One thing I think the kids today are missing out on is going to the mall. I understand there are still plenty of malls around but they're just not the same. My friends and I would go all the time and spend hours there. We wouldn't necessarily go shopping, we would just hang out. The game room, food court, record store, and so much more.

A lot of malls in Illinois that were once upon a time very successful have gone out of business and have been left abandoned. It's sad because they were such a big deal back in the day. I know online shopping is convenient but I like to purchase many things in person so I can actually see them up close.
Not all the malls in Illinois are closing. There are several that are still thriving. You've got Woodfield in Schaumburg, the outlet mall in Aurora, and Oak Brook. Those places are always busy with customers and not just during the holidays.
One of the Illinois malls I remember going to when I was young was North Riverside Park Mall in North Riverside. It's near Brookfield Zoo. I'll always remember it because Darth Vader made an appearance at Sears and I got to see him there.
Well, North Riverside Park Mall is bucking the trend of closing malls. The shopping center just completed a $9 million makeover. That doesn't sound like a place that's going out of business. I'm going to have to check it out again sometime soon.
