Illinois’ First Jellycat Shop Is Opening in Chicago Soon
Do you know what a Jellycat is? Do you have a kid who is obsessed with them? You'll be happy to know a unique Jellycat shopping experience will be opening in Chicago soon, but only for a limited time!
What Are Jellycats?
For the past six months (or more) I have heard my 12-year-old daughter Ella talk about "Jellycats" at least once a day.
If you're unaware of what a Jellycat is, don’t worry. You’re not old, you’re just out of the loop. Jellycats are ridiculously soft, squishy stuffed animals that come in every possible shape and size, from food to animals, even pencils and pebbles. Think Squishmallows, but cuter and much more detailed.
Here's another thing about Jellycats, if you don't want to shop online, they can be hard to find, especially if you're after a "rare" one. They can also be pretty pricey.
Here’s a photo of my daughter Ella (left) shopping for Jellycats with two friends at Porch in Rockford, which happens to stock a small Jellycat section.
So, why are Jellycats so popular? Honestly, I don't know, but I think we have social media to blame. Jellycats are the perfect blend of comfort item and social media star. They’re soft enough to cuddle, cute enough to photograph, and collectible enough to cause major FOMO if you don’t have the latest design.
My daughter is already begging for the new Halloween Jellycats for her October 25 birthday. She is absolutely going to lose her mind when she hears there’s going to be a Jellycat pop-up in Chicago.
Jellycat Pop-up Coming to Nordstrom in Chicago
Everything cool and popular seems to get a pop-up these days, and Jellycat is no exception. Chicago Parent reports:
Jellycat is opening a shop-in-shop at Nordstrom Michigan Avenue on Sept. 30.
The immersive “Road Trip to Joy” experience will feature beloved plush characters including the Nordstrom-exclusive Carrot Cake, a playful nod to nostalgic roadside stops.
Information on what this "Road Trip to Joy" immersive experience will be like is limited, but I can tell you other Jellycat pop-ups that have opened around the world are absolutely adorable. Check out this "Jellycat Diner":

I have no doubt my daughter is going to beg to go to this pop-up 24/7 once she finds out about it, so I better start planning my excuses, or saving lots of money now.
