Chicago River Tour Turned Life-Saving Rescue Caught On Video
A typical architecture tour on the Chicago River today turned into a life-saving mission, and the heroic rescue was all caught on video.
Things You Can Expect To See in Chicago
Anytime you travel to Chicago, there are a few things you can count on seeing and experiencing:
- Downtown traffic and construction.
- Lots of people wearing Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs shirts.
- An overwhelming variety of amazing places to eat and shop.
The truth is, Chicago is a diverse and chaotic city where anything is possible, but witnessing a boat tour crew saving someone's life is not something you see every day.
Heroic Rescue On the Chicago River
What started as a normal sightseeing cruise on the Chicago River turned into something nobody on board will ever forget.
Passengers aboard a Wendella Architecture Tour were enjoying views along the Chicago River when they witnessed a man fall off a bridge and into the river.
Instead of panicking, the Wendella crew shifted from tour guides to lifesavers, and pulled the man from the water and onto the boat.
NBC Chicago reports:
The man was unresponsive when he was first pulled from the river, the Wendella representative said. A passenger onboard the tour performed CPR on the man and boat crew members used a defibrillator that was onboard to try to resuscitate the man.
He was jolted back to life while on the boat, the representative said, however his current condition is unknown.
What could have been a heartbreaking tragedy turned into a powerful reminder that everyday people are capable of extraordinary things. I wish this world was full of more stories like these.
