Doc’s Diner in Loves Park Needs Community Help To Reopen After Fire
After a fire caused $30,000 in damage to Doc's Diner in Loves Park, the owners are asking the Stateline community for help reopening their doors.
Fire At Doc's Diner
On August 20, 2025, a fire broke out in the ventilation system of Doc's Diner located at 6499 N 2nd St. in Loves Park.
Thankfully, the fire was put out quickly, but it still caused extensive damage that has forced the business to be closed for the last month, and that’s not their biggest problem: the insurance company is refusing to cover the repair costs.
Doc's Diner owner, Ronald Krepfle, told mystateline.com:
They (the insurance company) feel that anything that’s above the ceiling tiles should be the landlord’s responsibility, and of course, the landlord didn’t cause the fire.
With the insurance company and the landlord refusing to cover the fire damages, the burden is left on Doc's Diner's owners, and with no income coming in and bills piling up every day, they really need our help.
How to Help Doc's Diner Reopen in Loves Park
A GoFundMe has been established to help cover the costs of the fire damage at Doc's Diner, and right now they are several thousand dollars away from their goal and will not be able to reopen until all repairs are complete.
Besides donating to the Doc's Diner GoFundMe, you can also help by attending a Fundraiser Breakfast that Neighbors Bar & Grill will be hosting on October 18:
Please do what you can to help support this long-term local business get back on their feet. They desperately need us, so let's show them that the entire Stateline community has their back!
