Two Wisconsin Teen Runaways Reported Missing

As a mom of two daughters, stories like this always stop me in my tracks.

Raising girls is a TOUGH job, especially when they reach their teenage years. I constantly worry about the pressures they are subjected to on social media, and restricting their exposure to it often feels like a losing battle.

My girls may find it annoying, but staying aware of their conversations with friends and what's happening in their daily lives is my number one priority as a mom, and I truly hope my "helicopter parenting" prevents a heartbreaking situation like this.

The Janesville Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating two missing 16-year-old girls who were last seen leaving Janesville, Wisconsin, on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

Pamela Torres-Castellanos and Liliana Garcia-Barranco were reported as runaways on May 28. Janesville Police were able to confirm that the girls purchased one-way bus tickets to Chicago, and that they arrived in the city around 3:30 p.m. that same day.

Where did the teens go after arriving at Union Station in Chicago? That is what police need our help to find out.

Pamela Torres-Castellanos is described as having red hair, standing about 5 feet tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds. She was last seen wearing a navy blue shirt, blue jeans, Nike shoes, and carrying a black backpack.

Liliana Garcia-Barranco has brown hair, stands about 5 feet tall, weighs approximately 110 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black oversized crewneck sweatshirt with black leggings or jeans.

Living in northern Illinois, many of us travel back and forth between Wisconsin and the Chicago area regularly, so please keep an eye out for these two teens so they can be returned home safely.

If you recognize either teen or have any information about where they may be, please contact the Janesville Police Department at 608-755-3100, Rock County Communications Center at 608-757-2244, Crime Stoppers at 608-756-3636, or Detective Justin Stubbendick at 608-905-1180.
