This Popular Grocery Store Chain is Selling Off 35 Illinois Locations

Dozens of neighborhoods around Illinois could be losing access to a popular grocery store that recently announced it will be increasing the number of locations it will be closing around the state.

Back in 2022, the merger was first announced between Kroger and Albertsons which would ultimately lead to Jewel and Mariano's teaming up.

In September of 2023, Kroger announced it would be selling the 'Mariano' name and 14 of its locations in Illinois, but in April of this year (2024) the number of stores that would be sold in Illinois was increased to 35.

Dozens of stores across Illinois will be sold, including these 8 locations:

• Mariano’s — 3350 N. Western Ave.
• Mariano’s — 5353 N. Elston Ave.
• Mariano’s — 1800 W. Lawrence Ave.
• Mariano’s — 5201 N. Sheridan Road
• Mariano’s — 1500 N. Clybourn Ave., Ste. 104
• Mariano’s — 3030 N. Broadway, Ste. 100
• Mariano’s — 3857 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive
