John Marshall, who had earned the #1 seed in Section 1AA, defeated Owatonna 2-0 to advance to the state tournament for the first time since 1986. The win pushed JM's season record to 13-3-2.

Lourdes, the #1 seed in Section 1A, also recorded a 2-0 win in their section final, defeating Austin. Lourdes, a perennial soccer powerhouse, will be looking to capture a fourth-ever state title, and their second in three years, having last been state champions in 2012. The win took their record to 15-5-0.

On the girl's side, Dover-Eyota won the Section 1A title - it's first Section title in the program's history - to advance to the girl's Class A state tournament for the first time. They overcame 2012 Section winners Kasson-Mantorville to claim their place in this year's state tournament.
