Austin, MN (KROC AM News) - Minnesota is involved in a recall involving Skippy Peanut Butter.

Hormel Foods - which owns the popular peanut butter brand - announced the voluntary recall Thursday.

It involves what the company says is “a limited number of jars of three varieties (Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread, Reduced Fat Chunky Peanut Butter Spread and Creamy Peanut Butter Blended With Plant Protein)."

The recall was prompted by “the possibility that a limited number of jars may contain a small fragment of stainless steel from a piece of manufacturing equipment.”

Hormel says so far, “there have been no consumer complaints associated with this recall to date, and all retailers that received the affected product have been properly notified.” The varieties involved have a “best if used by” date of May 2023.

Minnesota and Wisconsin are among the 18 states included in the recall.
