St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - After five straight months of growth, Minnesota experienced a modest decline in jobs in June.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development says the seasonally adjusted net loss was around 600 jobs and marks the first monthly drop in jobs since December of last year. The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was steady at four percent which is less than half of the size of the jobless rate reported for June of last year.

Since the worst days of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the number of jobs in Minnesota plummeted by over 416,000, the state has regained nearly 246,000 positions or almost 60 percent of the jobs lost to the pandemic economic shut. Over the past year, the Rochester area has regained nearly 10,000 jobs for a job growth rate of about 8.8 percent.
