Minor flooding expected in Wabasha this week
More rain is in the forecast for southeast Minnesota, northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin through tonight and it could be heavy in some areas. The National Weather Service also says the rain could change to snow this evening with 1 - 2 inches possible. The recent rain and snowmelt are causing the Mississippi River to rise in southeast Minnesota. At this point, the NWS says the river will hit flood stage only in Wabasha this week. It appears the river
will reach flood stage ( 12 feet ) sometime Tuesday or Wednesday and crest at 12 1/2 feet before slowly falling by the end of the week.
