MN Native Rachael Leigh Cook Cast In New Spirit Halloween Movie
There is nothing spooky about this! Did you know the lead in the newly-announced Spirit Halloween movie is from Minnesota?
In case you didn't know, a movie about a haunted Spirit Halloween store was announced earlier this month. The movie's plot centers around a store location in a deserted strip mall that a group of kids stay in overnight as a truth-or-dare type thing.
They soon realize it is haunted and must spend the rest of the night surviving from the animatronic ghosts and goblins. I absolutely love Spirit Halloween and it sounds like a fun movie.
There is no exact release date just yet, but based on the fact that Spirit Halloween stores only open around Halloween season, it is probably a safe bet to assume that is when the movie will drop as well. One report says that it will indeed be in October with an exact release date to be announced.
You don't have to be a Halloween lover to enjoy the film, though. One of the movie's main stars happens to be from Minneapolis so we will see Minnesota represented, which is always fun! Her name is Rachael Leigh Cook and you definitely recognize her!
According to Variety, this new film is being called a "family and kids adventure" film which means it probably won't be too scary. Apparently, the movie is already done filming which is how they are able to turn it around by later this year! They really kept that under wraps.
One excited horror movie fan broke down all reports about the new movie on his YouTube channel, going into detail about the movie, the plot and the stars that will be gracing your screen later this year.
I guess I didn't put it all together that Rachael Leigh Cook was from Minnesota, despite her being in a ton of hit television shows and movies. She recently had a recurring role on my favorite show, Criminal Minds. She played the girlfriend of Spencer Reid and definitely held her own fighting off serial killers so she will kill her new role as well.
She has starred in a ton of other things as well, scoring her big breakout hit decades ago in the iconic classic She's All That. She's also had roles on Dawson's Creek, Perception and a Netflix movie I recently watched called Love, Guaranteed.
There you have it. Not only are we getting Spirit Halloween but we are also getting a Spirit Halloween movie. There is a lot to look forward to and it is never too early to start getting ready for Halloween, in my opinion.
It is too soon to tell if we will get a Spirit Halloween store once again in Duluth but there are always a bunch of locations across Minnesota. We've had a Spirit Halloween in Duluth the past few years and so my fingers are crossed another location returns later this year!
