Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Record rain fell at the Rochester airport Monday morning.

And it wiped out the city's August moisture deficit in just a few hours.

The National Weather Service reports 2 inches fell at the airport between 5:00 and 9:00 AM.

The previous record for Aug. 31 was 1.87 inches, set in 1981.

The four-hour rainfall was nearly equal to all the rain that fell during the previous 30 days of the month  Through Sunday night, the August total at the airport was 2.23 inches, which was more than 2 inches below normal.

Dry weather is expected for the rest of the week.
