Nebraska Cornhuskers Name Their No.1 QB This Spring
As the Nebraska Cornhuskers begin spring practice, it appears at least for now, that the Huskers have found their QB 1.
With the Huskers moving on from Adrian Martinez who transferred to Kansas State, Nebraska was on a hunt to find their new starting QB.
That hunt led them down the transfer portal while landing two quarterbacks from Power 5 programs while still having multiple options in-house from a season ago.
Apparently, though heading into spring practice, the Huskers have found their QB 1 as Texas transfer Casey Thompson is the leading candidate.
First-year offensive coordinator Mark Whipple reiterated that news along with adding a side note about the future of that spot.
"I think he's the best one right now. That might change tomorrow. There's nothing set in stone."
Thompson transferred from Texas where he started all but two games for the Longhorns and led the Big 12 in touchdowns as well.
It is going to be very interesting to see how this QB battle ultimately plays out, but one thing is for sure, the Huskers could for sure use the improvement of that position in 2022 if they want to be successful
