The Rochester Park Board Tuesday gave the go-ahead to staff to complete a master plan for the proposed Gamehaven Sports and Recreation Park.

Staff has been working on the concept with the Gamehaven Boy Scouts Council and others and a request has been made for state funds to help develop the site and purchase additional property.

The concept calls for an all-season recreational park that would include trails for summer and winter use, including Nordic skiing.

If state funding is secured, it would be owned and operated by the city but designated as a regional park.

The city already owns property at the site that is part of its flood control project.  The Gamehaven Council also owns property at the site, which is located a few miles south of Mayo High School along County Road 1 and 45th street southeast.
