Capt. Scott Behrns says there were four teenagers involved and two had knives.

Behrns says a 14-year-old was stabbed in the lower right abdomen. The injury was not believed to be serious but the victim was taken to the hospital. The 15-year-old who was with the victim says the other suspect with a knife swung it at him but he wasn’t hurt.

The two suspects left but were later located and arrested. One had a knife in his possession. Another knife was found near the school. The one used to stab the victim was described as a 5-inch serrated steak knife.

Behrens says one suspect is 15, the other 16-years-old. He says both were taken to the Dakota County juvenile detention center and may face felony assault charges.

Behrns says the two are “extremely familiar” with his deputies because of past criminal activity in the Byron area.

The sheriff's office was also investigating a suspicious incident reported near the same school the day before.
