Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Republican Party State Convention opened today in Rochester.

The delegates are gathering at the Mayo Civic Center through tomorrow afternoon to adopt the party's platform and endorse a slate of candidates for statewide offices. That list of offices includes the Governor, State Attorney General, Secretary of State, and State Auditor.

Bill Werner with the Minnesota News Network is reporting that some Republican leaders are concerned there may not be enough time for the delegates to reach a consensus and endorse a candidate to challenge Governor Tim Walz. Werner says the convention must adjourn by 6 PM Saturday and a higher than expected number of delegates slowed down the registration process this morning and delayed the opening of the convention.

This is the first time Minnesota Republicans have held their State Convention in Rochester since 2014.
