A new report from the U.S. Census suggests the population of Olmsted County will reach 150,000 this year, if it hasn’t already hit the milestone. The latest Census estimates are from July of last year and put the county’s population at 149,226. That’s up by over 2,000 people when compared to the estimate from 2012 and is about 5,000 higher than the population total recorded in the 2010 census. The report also shows nearly all of the population growth in the multi-county Rochester Metropolitan Area has been in Olmsted County. The Census Bureau estimates the metro area population rose by about 2,100 people to nearly 212,000 people last year.
