Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester City Council is being asked to consider giving financial relief to some businesses that are affected by ongoing Covid-related restrictions.

Council members Nick Campion and Mark Bilderback are seeking support for what they call “a program for targeted relief associated with liquor license fees.”

Bilderback says this would primarily benefit bars and restaurants that operate with city-issued licenses. He says one option would be a partial refund of the license fee based on the number of business days they are closed.

Bilderback says if the council approves the proposal, he intends to present another one that could benefit all businesses affected by Covid restrictions.

He is proposing possible reductions in utility fees paid for electric, sewer, and water services based on the number of days they are closed.
