Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester Catholic Charities has announced a fundraising campaign to help cover the costs of the recently-opened community warming center.

And it’s off to a successful start thanks to a Rochester couple.

Catholic Charities says Ron and Dianne Yanish have made a $100,000 gift to jumpstart the “2020 Rochester Cares Campaign.”

The center opened a month ago at a site located along 4th St SE near the Government Center. Catholic Charities is overseeing the center’s operations and staffing. Rochester, Olmsted County, Mayo Clinic and local businesses contributed funds to the renovation of the center. They also provided operational funding.

The center offers emergency shelter for homeless adults during the winter months. It also offers access to a shower, laundry facilities, healthy snacks and beverages, fellowship, and referrals for additional help and assistance.
