The Rochester Fire Department said units responded to the Days Inn Hotel around 6:45 a.m. to the report of a fire. While en route, crews determined that the building was protected by an automatic fire sprinkler system.

Once firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from a third-story window on the rear of the building. Fire alarms were going off and the evacuation of guests was taking place. Crews entered the building and found that the fire was on the 3rd floor within a hotel room and was extinguished by a fire sprinkler head.

Nobody was in the hotel room or in adjacent hotel rooms.

Firefighters then ventilated the first floor with electric fans as an ample amount of smoke was present, crews also shut down the sprinkler system once it was determined the fire was out completely to limit water damage.

After an initial investigation, it was determined that the fire started on a cooktop range within the hotel room.

The amount of damage is still being estimated but RFD said the sprinkler system limited fire damage to just the room of origin.

All 37 Minnesota Restaurants that Have Been Featured on the Food Network

Many Minnesota restaurants have been featured on the Food Network over the years. Some have closed now, but I checked out the Food Networks website, the Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives website, and TVFoodMaps.com to find all of the Minnesota restaurants that have been featured on their channel in the past and found these 37 (in no particular order) that are still open.
