Rochester Man Among The Victims Of Three Deadly Traffic Wrecks
Austin, MN (KROC AM News) - There were three fatal traffic wrecks reported Wednesday by the Minnesota State Patrol and one of the victims was a Rochester man.
The State Patrol says 53-year-old Dean Sinnwell was driving a garbage truck on I-90 near Austin around noon when the vehicle went into the median and rolled. Reports indicate he was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected and suffered fatal injuries.
One of the other deadly wrecks involved a semi-truck. It happened around 6:30 pm when a truck collided with a small SUV at a rural intersection in Renville county. The SUV was driven by 27-year-old Naima Mohamud of Willmar, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in her vehicle - 75-year-old Mayran Jama of Willmar - was taken to the hospital where she died. The truck was driven by 19-year-old Tyler Scherping of Freeport. He was not hurt.
And a motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a car in Brainerd around 3:30 pm.
Meanwhile, a central Minnesota man had a close call late Wednesday night as he was driving near Pierz.
The State Patrol says 57-year-old Allan Welle was driving on a rural highway around 10:30 pm when his car “struck a loose bull in the roadway.” Welle was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The State Patrol did not report on the fate of the bull.
