Rochester police arrested two men yesterday in separate DUI cases. The first happened just after midnight

when an officer spotted a car weaving on Highway 52. The officer - who was on Safe and Sober patrol - followed the vehicle when the driver exited to 19th street northwest. The driver then ran a red light and the officer tried to pull him over. The man kept driving and then stopped a few blocks away and took off on foot. The officer was able to apprehend the 41 year old man and took him into custody. Court records show he has 6 prior DUI arrests.

The second one took place near the Boys and Girls Club at the intersection of East Center Street and 11th avenue around 5 a.m. when the driver of a car rear-ended another vehicle that had stopped for a red light. The two people in the car were shaken up but not seriously hurt. The 20 year old man driving the car that struck their vehicle wasn’t hurt and was taken into custody for DUI.
