Rochester Man Sentenced For Attempted Murder Conviction
Owatonna, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced to 20-years in prison for nearly killing his ex-girlfriend two years ago.
36-year-old Ron Jaeger was found guilty of second-degree murder and felony assault charges by a Steele Court Jury in early August. He was brought to trial for repeatedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend during the attack at her residence in Owatonna on June 1, 2017.
The victim was stabbed 8 times and nearly died due to the loss of blood and organ damage but was able to identify Jaeger as her attacker before she was transported to Rochester for emergency surgery at St. Marys Hospital. Jaeger was arrested after a Dodge County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped his vehicle and found a knife and blood in his pickup.
It took over two years to bring the case to trial because Jaeger was declared incompetent to face prosecution in February 2018. He was cleared to stand trial after undergoing several months of treatment.
