Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - One person was fatally injured and another was seriously wounded in an early Friday shooting in Rochester.

RPD Capt. Casey Moilanen says officers were called to the Villages at Essex apartments complex at 941 41 St NW around 3:30 to investigate a report of a shooting.

Moilanen says officers found two male victims in a hallway, one 18-years-old and the other 20-years-old. Both were taken to St. Marys Hospital where the younger victim died and the other was in critical condition at last report.

Their names have not been released yet.

Moilanen says this was not a random shooting and it may have been linked to an earlier altercation. He says it’s possible the victims knew the shooter.

It’s not known if the victims lived at the complex.

As of 8:30 AM Friday, no arrests had been made.
