Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - A Rochester woman who recently made news for embarrassing her ex-boyfriend was arrested late Thursday night after crashing during a police chase.

An Olmsted County deputy spotted a car on Collegeview Rd that had been reported missing and tried to make a stop at E. Circle Dr. The driver continued at speeds up to 70 mph for a few blocks and then slowed but did not stop.

The pursuit ended in the 900 block of 4th St SE when the driver lost control, crashed into a tree and struck a retaining wall.

The female driver was unresponsive and after an officer found two syringes in her pocket, she was given some Narcan. She remained unconscious so she was taken to St. Marys Hospital to be treated for a possible overdose. She later regained consciousness. It’s suspected the woman had taken methamphetamine.

The woman - 35-year-old Tonya Hewitt - is expected to be charged.

She was recently charged with sharing nude photographs of her ex-boyfriend. She was also charged with posting a bogus ad on Craigslist that identified her ex-boyfriend as a “lonely trucker” who was “looking for men that are wanting to have a great time.”
