Rochester’s Thursdays Downtown Cancelled Today 08/26/21
The Rochester Downtown Alliance (RDA) announced this morning today's Thursdays Downtown has been cancelled due to the threat of severe inclement weather.
The RDA's Katie Adelman, director of Content and Communications, said,
In consultation with the National Weather Service and the Rochester Police Department, we make this decision with everyone’s safety in mind. The threat of severe inclement weather this afternoon is high, with possible lightning and wind gusts predicted. We will resume the market next week as scheduled.
The National Weather Service says we can expect severe weather between 1 and 9PM, so Thursdays Downtown could manage the lunch, then just have to tear down in the rain.
There will be a risk of severe t-storms across the area today/ tonight. A cluster of storms may move into MN/ IA this am with a line of t-storms developing & moving across SE MN, NE IA, and SW WI. The greatest severe weather threat looks to be 1 to 9 pm. Stay weather aware! (NWS - LaCrosse)

The Dog Days of September Coming Back to Downtown Rochester
A Paw-Tastic Event Returns to Downtown Rochester In September
This may be the most perfect first sentence of a press release I've ever seen.
Making a comeback to downtown after a “ruff” year is Dogs Downtown presented by the Rochester Downtown Alliance and Subaru of Rochester September 18.
Do you have a dog? Then you need to be in Rochester Minnesota's Peace Plaza on the 18th from 11 AM to 3 PM for vendors, a dog AND human beer garden, a photo booth and more fun than you can shake (but not throw) a stick at.
Isn't Dogs Downtown Rochester Usually In August?
Good catch, it is usually in August, but it's been so hot, the dogs dogs would really have been barking, so it's been moved to cooler September.
If you just got a dog in the last year, then it'll be your first chance to show off your pooch to the people in an event that started in 2015.
JUST THE FURTASTIC FACTS
- When: Saturday, September 18
- Time: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Where: Peace Plaza (1st Avenue Downtown Rochester)
