Two childhood friends in Winona, Minnesota have established themselves as a company that can handle orders of all sizes with only 8 employees besides themselves. They are called the Pillbox Bat Company and this summer they are now officially licensed to make Major League Baseball memorabilia for all 30 teams. According to Bring Me The News: Co-Owner Dan Watson said "Getting MLB licensing is huge and it's bringing all kinds of opportunities, adding that a deal with Fanatics is also in the works."

They are not able to make actual bats for the players to use in games because Major League Baseball has a license agreement with Louisville Slugger, but their custom-made bats are bought by collectors, baseball fans, and even some major league players. They also make wood pennants, specially painted baseballs, and more.

Bring Me The News reports "Joe Ryan saw one of the bats being made for a project relating to Twins season ticketholders and decided that he wanted one." Ryan who is a starting pitcher for the Minnesota Twins sent a picture with the bat and an autographed baseball in exchange for his custom bat.

The company was named Pillbox named after the old downtown St. Paul ballpark the Saints used to call home in the early 1900"s. The park was so small they called it "The Pillbox." Owners Zak Fellman and Dan Watson grew up together and as kids, they used to go out into the woods and get big sticks carving them down into their own versions of baseball bats. Talk about foreshadowing, wow! This is a great story that needs to be shared and made into a movie like Field Of Dreams.
