” Snake Salvation ” star dies – from snake bite

MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (AP) — The son of a snake-handling pastor who died from a bite to the hand says his father had been bitten eight times before, but never had such a severe reaction.

Jamie Coots, who appeared on the National Geographic TV reality show "Snake Salvation" was bitten over the weekend at his Middlesboro, Ky., church.

He refused treatment. Son Cody Coots tells WBIR-TV that he thought his father would just go home, lie on the couch and pray, and he would get better.
