Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - It's official, the post-pandemic world will not include snow days, at least for students in the Rochester School District.

The move has been under discussion for some time and today the Rochester Public Schools issued new procedures for inclement weather situations. A notice posted on the Rochester School District website says, because of the significant investments in technology devices, connectivity, and professional development to deliver distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, there will no longer be a need to cancel school in the event of snowstorms or other inclement weather.

Once students return to the classrooms, the district will use distance learning on days when transportation is canceled due to inclement weather. Meal service will also be suspended.

Before and After School Age Child Care will not be available but the School District says a limited number of spots will be available for Child Care for Critical Workers. Families interested in that service will have to preregister for inclement weather daycare and provide lunch for their child or children.
