State Disaster Assistance Approved For Olmsted County
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Governor Tim Walz has authorized nearly $4 million in state disaster assistance for southeastern Minnesota and almost half of the funding will benefit Olmsted County.
Rochester State Senator Dave Senjem says the governor this week authorized the disbursement of the funds from the state's Disaster Contingency Account. The assistance will cover 75-percent of the cost of responding to and repairing the damage to public infrastructure caused by the severe storms and flooding that hit the region this summer. Olmsted County will receive just over $1.9 million, while over $1.1 million will be directed to Dodge County.
The storms in late June early July dumped a foot to a foot and a half of rain on sections of both counties, resulting in flooding that caused extensive damage to numerous roads, bridges, and parks.
