Illinois winter weather has been wild this week. We've experienced a little of all four seasons, including this nightmarish-looking tornado in the middle of the night.
One storm chaser recently discovered a 'monster lurking in the corn' - a massive EF-2 tornado that he couldn't see initially because a field of corn was blocking his view.
At any time in Illinois, you might see any number of things cruising down your street. Vehicles obviously, the occasional dog walker, exercise freaks...oh and tornadoes. That's what one family saw zooming down their street recently.
There have been very few weather days quite like what transpired on March 31, 2023. Among the more than 100 confirmed tornadoes was a monster wedge in Keota, Iowa that storm chasers got up-close-and-personal with.
If you live in Illinois or Missouri long enough, you will see a tornado eventually. That being said I highly doubt you've seen a twister that seemed to give birth to a rainbow like one did in Illinois this week.
